Dartmouth College

Dartmouth has forged a singular identity for combining its deep commitment to outstanding undergraduate liberal arts and graduate education with distinguished research and scholarship in the Arts and Sciences and its four leading graduate schools—the Geisel School of Medicine, the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, Thayer School of Engineering, and the Tuck School of Business.

History

Dartmouth was founded in 1769 by the Rev. Eleazar Wheelock for “the education and instruction of Youth of the Indian Tribes in this Land ... and also of English Youth and any others.” Dartmouth became coeducational in 1972, and was named by the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton as one of the world’s “most enduring institutions” in 2004.

Education

A Dartmouth education is unlike any other. Through person-to-person teaching and opportunities to create and apply knowledge on campus and across the globe, Dartmouth instills a love of learning among its students and empowers them for a lifetime of leadership.

Research

Dartmouth has more than 50 research-focused centers, institutes, and groups in areas ranging from medicine and the arts to engineering and business. Many of these are interdisciplinary and bring together faculty and students from across campus to work on complex issues.

Career

Spend a leave-term building skills, creating connections and making an impact through a Dartmouth Center for Social Impact internship.

Housing services

Nearly 90 percent of undergraduates live in Dartmouth housing, including residence halls; approved co-ed, fraternity, or sorority houses; and undergraduate society and affinity houses.

Library services

At the heart of campus, Baker-Berry Library is home to the humanities and social sciences collections, classrooms, study and social spaces, several academic centers, a letterpress studio, and more.

ICT services

Our wired network has traditional Ethernet wall ports (one hardwired Ethernet port per desk) for computers and other devices.

Medical services

Health services and care for all Dartmouth students, including mental health and counseling.

Campus life

Living and learning. At Dartmouth, you'll be part of a close-knit community that’s anchored by campus life. Whether in the undergraduate residence halls or the graduate student apartments near campus, you're always near friends and faculty.

Sports facilities

Dartmouth offers 34 intercollegiate varsity sports (16 women’s, 16 men’s, two co-ed) at the NCAA Division I level, two dozen intramural sports, and approximately three dozen club sports. Three-quarters of Dartmouth undergraduates participate in some form of athletics.
