Education

Our unique and practical programmes are designed in collaboration with industry links and are taught by academics and professionals who are experts in their fields. This helps to provide you with the practical skills and insights crucial for securing graduate employment.

These strong links with the industry allow us to provide work-related learning for most of our students, from internships and work shadowing to live projects and experiences abroad. As a result of this, we have a 96.2% postgraduate graduate employment rate. (HESA 2017/18). Helping people get the careers they love is what we do and with such a range of diverse study areas available, we are confident there is something for everyone.

Research

Our inclusive policies, guidance and training offer strong support to our people at all stages of their career, and we actively encourage cooperation, mutual respect and a culture of wellbeing across the university.

Our research themes provide a framework for cross-university activity and interdisciplinary research. Through them, effective communities of staff and students are encouraged to work together on suitable collaborative funding proposals, as well as finding opportunities to enhance the curriculum. The university supports these themes with a central fund, enabling academics to devote time to interdisciplinary activity, and outcomes are promoted externally.

Career

The Career and Skills Development team offer a range of services such as one-to-one career guidance, a variety of professional development workshops and support with key recruitment skills, such as CV writing and perfecting your interview technique.

Our Placements team can support you with finding a relevant work placement to enhance your degree experience. They look after all stages of this process - from help with your initial applications, to ensuring you are fully prepared for your placement.

We have three campuses in Edinburgh offering advanced facilities for learning, teaching and research. Whether you're looking to train hard with top equipment or just want to meet new people through clubs and classes, we've got you covered when it comes to sports and fitness on campus.

Our Sighthill campus is home to ENGAGE Fitness, our state-of-the-art sports facility which has a fully-kitted fitness suite, sports performance gym, studio spaces and two full-sized sports halls which are available for bookings or walk-in pay as you play sessions.

Our student union, ENSA, provides students with the opportunity to get involved at all levels with a wide variety of sports. It doesn't have to be competitive either - many clubs are open to complete beginners if you just want to play for fun.
