Savonia University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest and most versatile Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland. Our organization of experts educates strong professionals in six different fields of study.
There are almost 30 Bachelor degree programmes, several adult education degree programmes and nine Master degree programmes. In addition, Savonia offers specialized studies in many different fields yearly.
Savonia actively serves the working life in the region. Our research, development and innovation work (RDI) offers expertise and tailor-made problem-solving to enterprises and public organizations. Our key success factors are collaboration, networking and international perspective.
A personal study and career plan is a tool for planning a student’s studies. The PSP is a roadmap which combines the objectives the degree programme, a student’s personal interests and study choices as well as his/her career prospects. The PSP is created and stored in Wilma, the electronic student administration system.
An annual PSP discussion is arranged between a student and his/her tutor teacher. It is a combination of a counselling appointment and an appraisal, in which the tutor teacher guides the student to assess his/her learning outcomes and progress in studies.
Student counsellors are responsible in their units for the co-ordination of the study counselling and its development and they also take part of the student’s career planning. Career and recruiting services are a part of the counselling and advisory services. Counselling and advisory services are evaluated and developed according to the feedback (e.g. questionnaires students fill in at different stages of their studies).
