History
Whilst we've been a university for more than 20 years, our history of professional education and research spans more than 100 years. This started with the establishment of the Bathurst Experimental Farm in 1895.
Education
Charles Sturt University's three Faculties (Arts and Education, Business, Justice & Behavioural Sciences, and Science) comprise a number of Schools and centres for specific areas of study and research.
Research
Charles Sturt University has four Research Centres and three Faculties. They are designed to bring together staff around a coherent theme.
University Research Centres leverage their resources to attract external funding to promote achievement as they engage in identifying, pursuing and sharing intellectual leadership with quality domestic and international research partners. The research conducted within the Centres is strongly complemented by research conducted with the Faculties of the University.

The Division of Information Technology (DIT) is committed to a strong service culture and focuses on delivering 'fit-for-purpose' quality information and communication technology (ICT) services to the University community.
Medical services
Charles Sturt University holds regular health information sessions on campus, and provide a website with further information, community contacts and reliable medical websites. We have a particular focus on drug and alcohol awareness as well as sexual and mental health.
Campus life
CSU's NSW campuses are located in some of Australia's fastest growing regional cities, offering a unique study experience with access to the best of city living along with the benefits of a regional lifestyle.
Large campuses have allowed the development of fully operational, hands-on teaching facilities, including:

Sports facilities
- Basketball court on the Albury campus
- Small grassed area at Thurgoona residences for kicking footballs, throwing Frisbees, etc
- Hume and Hovell walking track cuts through Thurgoona campus
- Bike track that links most of Albury and Wodonga is adjacent Thurgoona campus and will link direct to the campus in the next year or so
- Thurgoona tennis courts (a few hundred metres from the campus)
- Ovals with lighting for soccer, rugby league and rugby union
- Training oval with lights
- Fully equipped exercise gym
- Outdoor sports area catering for tennis, netball and basketball with lighting
