  • Northeastern partnered with tech entrepreneur and Maine native David Roux and his wife, Barbara, to launch the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine.

History

Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Education

Northeastern’s comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

Research

The university encourages faculty and students to turn their findings into products, services, materials, tests, and tools. Our Center for Research Innovation provides a path to identifying, patenting, and developing discoveries with commercial potential. And our venture accelerator, IDEA, offers mentorship, in-kind resources, and seed funding to would-be entrepreneurs.

Career

Northeastern's career services—offer students and alumni connections to thousands of employers, career advising, job-search and interview preparation, and links to a multitude of online and in-person career services.

Library services

The Library has always been there for the Northeastern community, making resources, services, and spaces available for learning and research, and being responsive to what is happening in the world. While the coronavirus may be novel, today is no different.

ICT services

The IT department supports the Northeastern community and delivers innovative and collaborative solutions that promote and advance teaching, learning, and research. Our strategic priorities are Mobile-Digital-Cloud, operational excellence, teaching and learning, and delighting the community.

Medical services

With more options, more clinicians, and a whole new level of mental health support, UHCS has a vision of healthcare that sets you at the center.

Campus life

Northeastern’s vibrant campus is a one-of-a-kind sanctuary of lush green spaces and tree-lined pathways located right in the heart of Boston. It truly is a campus within a city.

One of the country’s greatest walking cities, having Boston in your backyard opens you up to a cultural hub, with so much to see and do. Take a short walk or hop on the easy-to-use public transportation system (the “T”) to explore popular nearby destinations.

Student clubs

Northeastern students have the opportunity to join more than 300 student clubs and organizations including more than 70 experiential and professional organizations. Among them are Northeastern's student chapters of national and international professional associations such as the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Chemical Society, the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, the Association of Computing Machinery, the Society of Professional Journalists, and many more.
