History

The University of Western Australia (UWA) was established in 1911 as the State's first university. UWA has contributed to the intellectual, economic and cultural development of Western Australia, our country and our world for over 100 years.

UWA offers student support services dedicated to helping international students reach their full potential. These services include academic support, personal support for wellbeing, career and employability services and financial assistance. Our support services aim to assist our students with successful learning journeys and help set them up for a career they’ll love. 

Housing services

International students can make the most of their time at UWA and enjoy an amazing, fully inclusive lifestyle. Our five residential colleges are located directly opposite UWA with guaranteed accommodation offered to full-time students. Living at UWA means students can easily walk to uni, cafes and shops, and be a short bus ride to the city and Perth's best beaches. 

Library services

We aim to provide innovative and relevant Library services to support UWA to be a leading global institution. We believe the Library is not just a place where information is gathered and accessed, but where ideas are formed, inspired and shared. We have six campus libraries to ensure our students have access to conveniently located services and a range of places to study and meet up on campus.  

ICT services

Staff and students can access UWA's networks, systems and research resources with IT Support Staff ready to help at any stage.  

Medical services

The University Medical Centre is a fully equipped and accredited service supporting the UWA community with high-quality safe and confidential care. This includes UWA students, staff and members of their immediate family (including children and legal partners for international students).

The University of Western Australia is a vibrant place to live, work and study. UWA’s main campus is located on the picturesque banks of the Swan River and just minutes from Perth City. Student clubs

At UWA, there are over 160 clubs and societies registered through the Student Guild covering religion, spirituality, culture, faculties, professions and special interests. The International Students Department exists to support all international students on campus in Perth, by organising events, activities, sports and trips for students throughout the year, making it the perfect way for international students to meet new people.  

At UWA, we have a team of award-winning academics and educators that are continuously recognised for their dedication and passion for student learning. We are awarded 5 stars for our teaching quality, student demand and student-teacher ratio (Good Universities Guide 2021) and have 43 subjects ranked in the world’s top 1% (ARWU 2020, QS 2021).
