History

Kansas State University is a comprehensive, research, land-grant institution serving students and the people of Kansas, the nation, and the world. Since its founding in 1863, the university has evolved into a modern institution of higher education, committed to quality programs, and responsive to a rapidly changing world and the aspirations of an increasingly diverse society.

Research

At Kansas State University, we believe research is more than labs and statistics — it's knowing the right questions to ask. Our expert faculty conduct crucial research in the university's more than 90 research centers. In addition, K-State will work hand-in-hand with the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility, or NBAF, which is being constructed at the university by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Our research efforts bring in more than $150 million a year annually, allowing us to be at the forefront of discovery in areas such as global food systems.

Housing services

More than 5,000 students call our campus home. With ten residence halls, a large apartment community, one leadership/scholarship house for women and a house for honors students to choose from, we've got your housing needs covered.

ICT services

The mission of Network and Telecommunications Services is to provide a reliable, secure, high-performance information technology infrastructure for computing, networking and communications in a proactive, collaborative, service-oriented, customer-driven, cost-effective manner in support of the university's teaching, research, and service mission.

Medical services

Kansas State University provides a variety of medical insurance plans, including dental, prescription and vision. In partnership with the State of Kansas, the State Employee Health Plan, or SEHP, we offer health insurance. Various medical plans are available to select from, allowing you to meet the needs of you and your family.

Campus life

Kansas State University is a four-campus system that values each piece of the puzzle. 

  • Manhattan: K-State's main campus sits in "The Little Apple," and thrives in its vibrant college-town atmosphere. 

  • Located within the Kansas Bioscience Park, the Olathe campus provides a direct portal linking the university's powerful research capabilities to the Greater Kansas City area and beyond.

  • Polytechnic: This professional learning environment is built on theory, research and industry application, all within a small campus atmosphere located in Salina, Kansas.

  • K-State Global Campus is a campus without borders, bringing more than 70 online programs to individuals throughout their lifetime, regardless of location.

Sports facilities
