The School of Professional Studies offers you the opportunity to improve your community by maintaining and providing excellence and quality in the fields of research, public service, law, media, homeland security, and criminal justice.

Associate's degrees available in this school include criminal justice administration and paralegal studies. The bachelor's degrees in the school cover the areas of digital journalism, pre-law studies, public administration, criminal justice administration, homeland security and emergency management, and paralegal studies. Minors are also available in alternative dispute resolution, business law, criminal justice administration, journalism, and pre-law studies. Undergraduate certificate programs are available in alternative dispute resolution and criminal justice administration.

The master's degrees available in the school include digital journalism, criminal justice, digital cinema, professional screenwriting, and public administration.

National University's Division of Extended Learning, also a part of the School of Professional Studies , offers professional training to support students' ongoing development plans and give businesses the tools they need to gain a competitive edge. Additionally, the National University Polytechnic Institute offers a certificate in Marine Technology for those pursing a professional diving career.

The School of Professional Studies also offers several unique transition programs, including a Bachelor of Public Administration to a Master of Public Administration. Students can also transition from a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration to a Master of Criminal Justice, a Master of Forensic Science, or a Master of Public Administration. Students interested in homeland security can transition from a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management to either a Master of Public Administration or a Master of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
