UBI was established in 1992 in Brussels, Belgium, as a non-profit higher education institution. Its founders, Mr van Dievoet and Mr d'Anethan, envisioned a private business school that would provide to its students highest-quality British education with a focus on international management.
UBI’s degree programmes (BA & MBA) focus on business in an international context. All courses incorporate aspects of international management and the global economy. The school further designs special immersion programmes for students to experience global business topics first-hand. During the Global Immersion Course in Shanghai, China, students visit this commercial hub and learn about Asia and its business environment.
UBI’s courses are purposefully crafted to combine current real-world topics with the latest in management thinking. UBI believes in education that prepares its students for the professional environment, and thus emphasises practical projects and career-oriented activities and internships.
Students at UBI study for a dynamic career in the global economy. The school’s alumni have successfully taken on a wide array of business functions across the international business environment, ranging from junior positions at leading start-ups to senior roles within multinational firms. To maximise career prospects and enable students to deliver excellence in the professional workplace, UBI’s programmes incorporate an extensive agenda of real-world business topics. Throughout all programmes students have to work on practical projects and case studies. At the Bachelor level students must complete professional internships.
As a private higher education institution UBI prides itself of being able to provide a very personal business school environment. UBI’s administrative and academic staff are fully available to the students at all times and support them in their individual and professional development needs. Students work with UBI on a wide range of issues, including but not limited to: developing a personalised study plan, co-creating paths for career development, mentoring on internships, personal initiatives and social services, integration within the UBI community, advancing foreign language learning and accessing library services.
UBI’s campus in Luxembourg has a partnership with “Beau Séjour”, a hotel which has been converted into a student dormitory. Students can live comfortably and conveniently close to campus.
