About

History

IESE was founded in 1958 as the graduate business school of the University of Navarra with the intention of offering business leaders a holistic view of the firm and an emphasis on the ethical and human aspects of business activities. Its founding constituted a landmark in management education in Europe at a time when executive education was scarcely known outside the United States.

Active Learning Methodologies

IESE’s primary teaching tool, the case method, helps business leaders to develop a practical framework for effective decision-making, with insights and direct applicability for resolving business problems on the job. IESE is one of the largest producers of business cases enabling it to build and maintain strong links with industry. Other active learning tools are also used in IESE programs.

Housing services

Short-term accommodations

In Barcelona, Madrid, New York, Munich and São Paulo where short-term accommodations are required, normally your program will inform you and make reservations at local hotels.

Long-term housing

With a large international student population, Barcelona has a range of prices and housing options available throughout the city. Though there are many ways to find an apartment on your own, often it is more efficient to work with an agency. Based on student feedback, we recommend the following agencies for your search. Library services

What is Available to Borrow?

Most of our 45,500+ books can be borrowed, with the exception of certain copies of recommended reading books and reference works. Journals may not be borrowed.

You can also download most of our 127,000+ e-books, which you can search for on our E-Books Finder. The loan periods for e-books vary but are generally one or two weeks.

Medical services

Health Insurance

A comprehensive health insurance policy is included in the tuition fees of the full-time MBA program. Currently the health insurance provider is Axa Winterthur. The policy covers a wide range of services including medical consultation, hospitalization, surgery, pregnancy and childbirth, pediatrics and gynecology.

Student Life

Campus life

The 45,000 square-meter campus in Barcelona, 11,000 square meter campus in Madrid and the 25,000 square foot New York Center are state-of-the-art facilities with the latest multimedia learning technologies. In addition, IESE’s Munich facility gives executive programs a base from which to continue addressing the educational needs of business leaders in central Europe and the ISE campus in São Paulo offers top-notch facilities for executive education programs geared towards Brazilian business leaders.

Sports facilities

Students and program participants at IESE's Barcelona and Madrid campuses enjoy easy access to outdoor fitness and recreational activities including running, hiking and mountain biking. In Barcelona, la Carretera de las Aigües and Collserola Park are a stone's throw from campus while IESE Madrid is close to la Casa de Campo.
