IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society
On 2 December 2014 the Institute and UCL merged to create a new institution with over 35,000 students, the biggest higher education institution in London, and the largest postgraduate institution in the UK, with 19,000 postgraduate students. The IOE joined UCL as a single Faculty School, and became known as IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society .
Education
At the forefront of education and social science teaching and research, the IOE is home to 6 academic departments and over 30 centres. Students and researchers at the IOE work collaboratively with world-renowned academics and sector specialists to advance knowledge and professional practice.

Library services
Newsam Library and Archives, the largest education library in Europe, offers long opening hours, online access and help from skilled librarians. IOE students and staff also benefit from free admission to other UCL libraries, the University of London library and the British Library, all within walking distance of our campus.
ICT services
IT Services provide support via a helpdesk and out-of-hours service, giving 24/7 cover. Wifi connectivity is available across the campus. And networked computers and printers are open to students for private study in the library and 5 dedicated computer rooms.
Campus life
Garden squares and historic buildings surround our campus. Onsite, you'll find Europe's largest education library; cafés; a newsagent; a bookshop; a prayer room; computer and study rooms; and fast, wireless internet access.
Student clubs
UCL Students' Union (UCLU) run a shop, café, bar and social activities on Level 3. The sabbatical officer, who represents the interests of IOE students to UCLU and UCL management, has an office here too.
