History
The Department of European Studies "Jean Monnet" is an organized structure based in Locarno (Switzerland) which hosts the Undegraduate offered by the International University of Gorazde in partnership with other european (Italy, France, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Spain, Finland, Portugal) and non-european universities (China, USA).
Education
It is an educational center with a strong European and international openness which offers recognized undergraduate degree courses in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nursing and International Business. Students will obtain, at the end of their study path, a degree. Students will have the possibility to take online classes (theoretical classes only). The Department of European Studies "Jean Monnet" is the only actual education center based on “the european way of thinking” and its Faculty is composed by professors of high academic and scientific stature coming from different countries.
Research
The Sciencific & Technical Committee of the Department of European Studies of Locarno is an Advisory Board and defines the quality and quantifies the goals to be achieved and sustained from an education, science, organization and employment standpoint; it plays an important role in analysing all phases of pre, ongoing and post course delivery and student learning levels and their future employability and gives suggestions to continuously improve the overall activities.
Distance Learning Courses
Student services
In order to facilitate and make the learning process more effective, upon student request, the Department offers and provides services for mentoring, assistance, translations, accommodations and job placement. Simultaneously, it processes enrollment in the Croatian State University which will implement the student’s chosen degree, and which will issue the university diploma to students completing study course content and who have successfully passed the exams given at the end of each session, as well as the final thesis.
Housing services
The Department of European Studies offers an "Accommodation Service" to students who will attend undergraduate study courses in Locarno and wish to to register for lodging options at discounted prices.
This service will be given to students who request them absolutely free of charge. The student must indicate his requirements and disposable monthly budget in an email request.
Campus life
As the warmest city of Switzerland, with 2,300 hours of sunshine per year, Locarno has a special charm, from a church founded after a Marian apparition, to southern vegetation characterized by palm and lemon trees growing in the middle of urban areas.Heart of the City is Piazza Grande, famous for the yearly film festival, where the narrow alleys of the old town converge towards the Piazza, and is home of the Department of European Studies.
