Moves to establish a standardised European Higher Education Area have led to the introduction of a two-cycle degree system across Europe. Bachelor’s degree programmes generally comprise 180 to 240 ECTS points and Master’s degree programmes 90 to 120 ECTS points – regardless of whether the course is at a university or a university of applied sciences.
The FH JOANNEUM research strategy rests on three pillars emphasising the social significance of our R&D activities: It promotes ecologically, socially and economically sustainable concepts. It is focused on benefit to society and the living space of individuals and groups. It is committed to an understanding of innovation that combines creative impetus with a solution and market oriented approach.
As a responsible university we promote the development of our employees in attractive and flexible working conditions. Follow your professional interests and realize your personal goals in a culturally diverse, international and interdisciplinary environment: Help us to shape the future.
We offer a comprehensive portfolio of services for all our employees, lecturers and students as well as for external stakeholders. The spectrum ranges from library services and course guidance, services for refugees and topics of equality and diversity through to our virtual campus and the ÖH Student Union at our university. On top of this we provide support for promotional activities and you can also rent our main lecture hall.
The three FH JOANNEUM campuses offer students the opportunity to study, research and discover to their heart's content: Graz is known for its Mediterranean flair, art and culture, Kapfenberg is an ideal starting point for exploring the natural environment, and the particular appeal of Bad Gleichenberg lies in its unique landscape of rolling hills and thermal springs.
The FH JOANNEUM university library is designed to support learning, teaching and research. It is open to everyone interested in scientific literature and information.
The ZML team helps to develop and implement online teaching practices as part of the Virtual Campus project. The team of ZML - Innovative Learning Scenarios provides support for students and lecturers and offers technical-didactic training (TeDis), workshops and online courses in the field of e-learning. They receive individual support and advice in e-didactics, a field which is gaining increasing importance for universities today.
FH JOANNEUM underwent an audit according to Sec 22 of the Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (HS-QSG) in 2016. The internal quality management system was certified by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria (certification valid until 19 September 2023).
