History
Kristianstad University was founded in 1977, but we can trace our roots back to 1835 and the start of the teacher's training. In 1995 the university was located in one Campus just 10 minutes away from the city center of Kristianstad.

Student services
The International Relations Office help and support international students with housing, pickup service and introduction on arrival at Kristianstad University and with social and cultural activities during their studies.
Housing services
If you are a tuition-fee paying student or have received a scholarship at Kristianstad University our International Relations Office will help you to find a room in a student room/dorm during your studies in Kristianstad (if you apply on time). You will receive information via email, after you have been admitted, regarding the application procedure.
Library services
Staff and students are allowed to order inter library loans. The purpose of the ordered material shall be studies or work-related. Material held by the library can not be ordered.
ICT services
IT Services is to support all sections, departments and units at Kristianstad University for IT support. The task consists of the management and maintenance of existing systems and also to provide assistance in development projects. We provide the following services: computers, telephony, networks, operations and user support for FirstClass, VPN and wireless network.
Medical services
You are welcome to contact the Student health service if having study related worries or any problems that sap your strength in a way that you cannot manage. Student health service is located in the students union's house. Sending an e-mail for an appointment, is the best way. The Student Health is also located at Campus.
Campus life
Kristianstad University is located in one attractive Campus that is easy to get around. Students have access to modern information technology, inspiring meeting places and good services.
At campus you can find everything you need within a short walking distance. There is a library, a restaurant, a café, the student union, health centre and student dormitories all in one place. In the middle of the campus you will find a spacious library with study rooms, computer rooms and open spaces where you can read or relax.
The campus is located just 10 minutes away from the city center of Kristianstad and another 90 minutes away (by train) from Copenhagen International Airport, Denmark and the European continent.
Sports facilities
The campus is placed a short walk from the city center and just outside our doors are beautiful trails surrounded by trees, a variation of animals and delta waters. Everyone can enjoy themselves in Kristianstad. Visit some of their sports arrangements (here you can watch the best handball team in Sweden). As a student at Kristianstad University you’ve got really good opportunities to combine studies with sport and exercise. HKIF (our own sports club) helps arrange different workouts like dancing, football or climbing. If you feel like exploring the nature while working out you can always try hiking, surfing or biking.
Student clubs
Kristianstad Student Union ”KSK” influence the course schedule planning and affects the outcome of all decisions taken at Kristianstad University by having students from the student union representing the students in all meetings. A lot of resources are spent on helping students with education oriented problems.
- Kristianstad has been selected as the Student City of the Year 2024 by the Swedish National Union of Students (SFS), notably for the city's ability to provide a nurturing and rewarding environment for students to grow, contribute, and thrive.
- The Business Administration programmes, the Study Programme in Oral Health, the Master programme in Psychology and the Food and Meal Sciences programme have received the highest quality possible and has been classified as best in Sweden by the evaluations of the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ).
