1917-1921
SFA was chartered by the Texas legislature, Nacogdoches was selected as its location and the appropriation bill for funding was signed.1923
First classes held
During campus construction, the first group of SFA students attended class nearby, blazing a trail for hundreds of thousands of students to follow in their footsteps.

Career coaching promotes student development through education and coaching to help students make appropriate satisfying career choices. Services are designated to aid students in the process of choosing a major, changing a major, and matching career possibilities to their interests including personality and academic major.

Student services
Student Affairs for Support Services is part of the Division for University Affairs and the Department of Student Affairs. Our offices include Counseling, Career Services, Disability Services, Testing Services, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Health Services and the Veterans Resource Center. We know college is an exciting time, full of opportunity and promise.
Housing services
Some people call them dorms. We call them residence halls. Whatever you call them, living on campus is the best way to soak up the full university experience. Quickly make new friends as one of 5,000 students in our 11 residence halls, and take advantage of the support of our friendly residence life staff members.
Library services
The Rusk Library collection was made up of the following distribution of books in 1927. The entire collection consisted of 7077 books and a pamphlet collection of another 2452. The value of the collection as of Jan 16, 1926 were listed a $14,101.00. The largest number of books were in geography, history and biography (1899).
ICT services
The College of Business also maintains three lab classrooms: BU222, 224 and 314. Rooms 222 and 224 feature 35 student computers, a faculty computer, a projector and two monochrome laser printers. Room 314 has 53 student and one faculty computer, a projector and two laser printers.
Medical services
Health Services remains available for enrolled or registered students with questions or in need of medical assistance during our regular hours, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and in being in compliance with SFA policies regarding social distancing, we are temporarily implementing changes in our operational process:

SFA’s breathtaking campus is located in the heart of East Texas in historic Nacogdoches. Did you know that if you live in Houston or Dallas, Nacogdoches is actually closer than Austin? It’s true!
Sports facilities
Fitness and Wellness is a student run program which inspires and supports the fitness and wellness of the students, faculty and staff of SFA through comprehensive, innovative and fun programming; including a variety of Group Axe classes, personal fitness training, massage therapy, fitness outreach classes and special events.
