Grand Canyon University

History

It started more than 65 years ago when GCU was founded in 1949 by the Southern Baptist Church. At the time, GCU was known as Grand Canyon College with its first campus located in an abandoned armory building in Prescott, AZ. Two years later, the college relocated to Phoenix where GCU began to build a strong reputation as a premier, private Christian university.

Housing services

GCU offers a variety of housing options for new and returning students. Our suite-style residence halls and apartments offer all of the amenities you need to make GCU your home away from home.

GCU is committed to keeping housing costs low. Housing and meal plan costs are dependent on the accommodations you seek and the type of meal plan you select.

If you need to withdraw from GCU Housing before the end of your Housing Contract, you will need to fill out the Withdraw from Housing form.

Library services

Grand Canyon University's (GCU) library serves as the foundation of academic support for all learning and research pursuits of GCU students, faculty and staff. Medical services

The Canyon Health and Wellness Clinic is proud to offer a variety of services, including health education, wellness promotion, weight management, immunizations, smoking cessation and more. We are also pleased to offer specialized services to the campus community, including women's healthcare clinics, a Health Shop and Canyon Counseling Services.

Grand Canyon University's (GCU) main campus is truly an oasis in the heart of Phoenix. With new classroom buildings, popular dining options, sparkling swimming pools, state-of-the-art athletic facilities and so much more, the GCU campus is the perfect place to call home for the next four years. With GCU's four-credit courses and fast-track options, you can also graduate faster, allowing you to enter the workforce soon - and with less debt.

Grand Canyon University offers plenty of campus recreation to help you stay active and have fun during your time on campus! Get involved in one of our many intramural sports teams or head to a class at our student fitness centers. Take a weekend and explore the great outdoors with the GCU Outdoor Recreation Program. There is plenty to help you stay in shape while also getting to know other Lopes!Intramurals are your opportunity to build relationships and experience fellowship through sports! We strive to build and operate a program that promotes community on campus. We offer three different divisions so that you can participate, regardless of your skill level: competitive, recreational and coed.
