Illinois Dominican University

History

The school became known as Rosary College upon moving to River Forest, Illinois, in 1922 and rapidly grew its enrollment and programs over the next decades, including adding graduate programs and becoming co-educational.

Education

We offer hundreds of avenues at the undergraduate and graduate levels to explore career interests and experience diverse cultures and international environments. And we organize and support 60-plus projects and learning experiences that contribute effectively to the good of local and global communities.

Research

Undergraduate research is a priority at Dominican. The Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Investigations (URSCI) promotes student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship.

Funds are available on a competitive basis to:

  • Provide a summer stipend to students performing their own independent research,
  • Cover research-related travel or supplies, or
  • Pay a stipend to students who assist faculty with the faculty member’s research.

Career

At Dominican, Career Development isn't just an office or a center. It's a process that begins Day 1 of your time here.

Our aim is to see every student and develop a four-year plan incorporating everything from career interests to academic courses, internships, volunteer opportunities and a variety of other experiences to help them become great employees.

Now more than ever, the job market requires new college graduates to be prepared. Not only are new grads competing with their peers for jobs, but in many cases with individuals who already have workforce experience.

Housing services

When you live in the residence halls you’re part of the campus - close to the library, labs and classrooms. You can grab a bite in the Cyber Cafe or fill up at the dining room in Mazzuchelli Hall - then work it off in the Fitness Center. Best of all, your friends - old friends and the ones you haven't made yet - are right around the corner.

Library services

The Crown Library is an integral part of the culture and community of Dominican University. Its mission is in harmony with the Dominican University Mission: to pursue truth, give compassionate service, and contribute to a more just and humane world. The mission of the Rebecca Crown Library mandates the academic support of students, faculty, and staff for resources and services.

Medical services

All students – whether full time, part time, graduate, undergraduate, resident or commuter -- may take advantage of the full range of services offered at the Wellness Center. Basic services, including healthcare visits for sick students and counseling, are covered by tuition and fees.

Campus life

Living on campus is a unique opportunity to form new friendships and build strong ties with residents. Regardless of their origins and backgrounds, students are drawn together by their shared experiences in residential living.

Living on campus is not only a great time, but students who live on campus do better in classes and are all around more adjusted at the end of college. Living on campus is quite affordable and our residential communities offer you many options to choose from. This page explains the application process for incoming and transfer students wanting to join the Dominican University community.

Student clubs

Dominican University has more than 35 different student organizations recognized on campus through the Student Government Association. EngageDU is a site designed to help students explore student organizations, learn about fun and educational programs, connect with other students, and learn about all of the opportunities that exist for campus engagement.
