Saint Mary's College

History

We’ve practiced our core values of learning, community, faith, spirituality, and justice for more than 170 years. The College continues to grow and prosper, with approximately 20,000 living alumnae. Saint Mary’s tradition of empowering women with excellent academic programs and spiritual support began with our founding in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross.

Education

A Holy Cross education is integrated, holistic, balanced. Knowledge and faith merge at Holy Cross schools. Blessed Basil Anthony Moreau, founder of the Holy Cross congregations, provided his philosophy of Christian education that is distinctive at Holy Cross institutions.

We believe that a Holy Cross education is for those who want to make a difference in the world. At Saint Mary’s, we’ve been educating students since the sisters founded the school in 1844. When you graduate, you’ll move into the world as a prepared and responsive citizen.

Research

The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) contributes to the College mission by providing consistent and reliable data to inform and support information-driven decision-making, institutional planning, and the assessment of student learning.  The OIR collaborates with College community members to identify information needs, collect and manage data, provide analysis, disseminate clear findings, and encourage data-driven discussion.  The OIR serves the diverse information needs and reporting demands of the campus and external entities in a timely, unbiased, and responsible manner.

Career

Approximately 93 percent of recent Saint Mary's graduates are employed full-time or enrolled in graduate school.
