Church Divinity School of the Pacific

The only Episcopal seminary on the West Coast, CDSP forms leaders called to find new ways to create Christian communities and share God’s love. Through a recently announced partnership with Trinity Church Wall Street and an ongoing dialog with bishops and grassroots leaders.

History

CDSP was founded in 1893 to train clergy locally for the Episcopal Church in the West. Through much of its history, CDSP benefitted from its relationship with St. Margaret's House, a Berkeley-based institution that trained deaconesses and lay women for ministry in the Episcopal Church from 1909-66.

Education

A student’s experience at CDSP integrates scholarship, reflection, worship, spirituality, and the practice of ministry. Our pedagogical approach is grounded in the realization that after seminary, clergy and lay leaders will be immersed in the shifting realities of the American religious landscape and will constantly be learning new things—whether they want to or not.

Career

Eligible students are encouraged to consider employment as a source of financial support.

Two programs are available, Federal Work Study (FWS) and the Institutional Work Program (IWP). These programs allow students who are eligible for need-based aid to do part-time work, for which they are paid an hourly wage.
