Abat Oliba - CEU University

The Abat Oliba CEU University has its origin in the University Centre Abat Oliba CEU, created by the San Pablo CEU Foundation in 1973 by means of and adscription agreement with the Barcelona University. It started classes in its first headquarter in the Pearson Avenue in Barcelona in 1974 and, since then, has trained more than 8,500 university graduates.

History

The Abat Oliba CEU University was founded in 2003 in Barcelona. It is an institution based on the ideals of the Asociación Católica de Propagandistas (Catholic Propagandistic Association). The core principle in all its initiatives is its vocation of service towards the Catalan society, which follows the Christian spirit and, thus, the inviolable dignity of human life.

Education

In 1993, it moved to the Bellesguard Campus, and as Teaching Centre of Superior Studies Abat Oliba CEU, started teaching all of its degrees in Law and Business Management, as well as the first stage of the Economics degree.

Ten years later, the new Abat Oliba CEU University is recognised by Law 20/2003, 4th of July, of the Catalan Parliament, creating two centres in Barcelona: the Social Sciences Faculty and the Engineering Technical College.

Campus life

The Universitat Abat Oliba CEU links its academic excellence to the international projection of its students. This international dimension is set on the offer of bilingual degrees, international internships, international mobility programmes, the study visits and the Study Abroad programmes. It is about giving the students an international academic experience that allows them to fit in a multicultural society.

Sports facilities

Moreover, CEU UAO has signed collaborations with several gyms. On the other hand, Abat Oliba is certified as “Healthy University” by the REUS (Spanish Network of Healthy University) and the Ministry of Health.

Apart from being linked to the universities of San Pablo CEU (Madrid) and Cardenal Herrera CEU (Valencia), which both belong to the San Pablo CEU Foundation, the Abat Oliba CEU University also belongs to the main associative organisations of the national and international universities’ system.
