Education

UCC School of Film, Music and Theatre offers undergrad degrees in Theatre and Music, variously constructed from joint honours to full specialisation. Research

A broad range of expertise and experience in creative performative practice, connections and links to the theatre industry and the wider cultural sector, a strong commitment to on-going training and professional development, coupled with a comprehensive range of research outputs – including on pedagogy – amongst the existing body of staff in Drama and Theatre Studies allows for the fostering of an environment whereby teaching, practice and research are all interlinked.

Distance Learning Courses

Student services

UCC offers a wide array of useful support services. The Theatre department strives tocreate a supportive and co-operative atmosphere. An awareness of our own needs andthose of others is a key element in fostering this environment. 

Library services

Each course instructor will provide a list of required and recommended reading. Where possible a copy of the required text will be on reserve in the library. However, we strongly recommend that you buy your own copy. We endeavour to keep costs of core texts to a minimum and to use key texts across the curriculum.

ICT services

All Theatre/UCC students have access to the Routledge Performance Archive – this isa digital archive of resources from performance practitioners including but notlimited to interviews, masterclasses, critical commentary, productions, workshops,documentaries, etc.

Campus life

The buildings of the Department of Theatre are clustered around a courtyard betweenthe Mardyke and Western Road, alongside the main campus of UCC, and comprise: TheTheatre Lab and seminar rooms, the Granary Theatre studio space, and theadministrative offices at Muskerry Villas.
