Each features top-of-the-range facilities, international researchers and knowledgeable staff to help students achieve the best qualifications possible and advance their understanding of the world around us.

Research

The breadth of subject areas within the Faculty of Science is reflected in its research programmes. Researchers are working on projects as diverse as the truthfulness of witness statements, the corrosion of steel piling, the study of volvanic rocks and the on-going effects of the nuclear disaster on Fukushima. Patents have been filed for anti-cancer drugs and drug delivery systems, and in another laboratory the atom-by-atom structures of protein molecules are being determined using nuclear magnetic resonance methods.

Should you require health and medical care, a full doctors practice is situated next to the Nuffield Centre in the middle of campus and we can also give you a comprehensive list of local surgeries.

  • Or you can choose who you would like to live with and you have more independence. The two main types of private accommodation are private shared houses and flats, or lodgings. We have a dedicated team who can help with house hunting and help you to find housemates.

Paying due regard to the need for cost effectiveness, the University Library will continue to be responsive to user demand and proactive in the development of services and use of new technology.
