History

The University as it is today was created in 2002 with the merging  of London Guildhall University and the University of North London, the first merger between two universities in the UK. Its roots, however, lie firmly in the nineteenth century with the establishment of the Metropolitan Evening Classes for Young Men in 1848.

Education

Students studying in any of our schools have access to all our communal facilities (such as libraries, social spaces, cafés and eateries), and each school also has areas of expertise which might mean you use specialist resources as part of your course. Our schools have links to relevant businesses in sectors related to their specialist subject areas, and the schools are also hotbeds of research undertaken by University academics and PhD students.

£2,000 Scholarship - all full-time international fee-paying students receive a £2,000 scholarship if they are successful with their application to London Met.

EU Transition Scholarships - Our EU Transition Scholarship will automatically be applied to eligible EU students with overseas fee status starting a degree with us in January 2023. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of your studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Research

The high-quality research forms a core part of the life of London Met and underpins all that we do.

Research covers everything from teaching thousands of undergraduates, supervising several hundred students on PhD and Professional Doctorate programmes, conducting funded research or working with our many partners.

London Met is home to a number of research centres, groups and units that provide a focal point for staff and research students. They give definition and direction to the work that we do.
