History

Our School is part of the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment at Oxford Brookes University. We have an international reputation for excellence in teaching, research and innovation. We have an ambitious desire to be recognised as a hotbed of creativity, innovation and knowledge exchange and to be one of the most exciting places to study in the world.

Research

Our staff engage in a continuous stream of interdisciplinary cutting-edge research and scholarly activities designed to meet the current and anticipate future needs of the built environment. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework in 2014, 97% of our research was judged to be internationally recognised, while 69% was found to be of ‘world leading’ quality or ‘internationally excellent’. 100% of our research was assed as having outstanding or very considerable impacts in terms of reach and significance.

Career

Many of our students are sponsored by the major firms and organisations in the built environment. We have excellent links with industry and work closely with our student’s future employers and leading professionals to ensure that our students develop strong commercial awareness. We have an extensive programme of career prospect enhancing activities which include industry placements, internships, a mentoring scheme, and dedicated career days with presentations from the leading firms and our alumni to help our students make a smooth transition into industry.

Student services

Global Buddies and other support At Brookes they do everything they can to help their international students settle in. They have a dedicated international student support team which offers help with everything from visas, working, banking and more. Their Global Buddies scheme provides a friendly welcome, putting new international students in touch with a British student who will help them settle into Oxford life.

Housing services

Living in halls

  • All of the halls have shared laundry facilities with coin-operated machines. Self-catered halls have shared kitchens where you can cook and eat your own meals. Catered halls, where meals are provided in shared dining areas, also have small kitchenettes for making snacks.

Medical services

The university Medical Centre is based on Headington Campus.The centre also offers health advice for students travelling overseas and on field trips. It also runs initiatives dealing with issues such as eating disorders or cancer awareness. You can make an appointment or you can attend a nurse drop-in clinic between 10.30am and 2.30pm Monday to Friday.

Campus life is a key part of your university experience.

It's more than likely that the majority of your time will be spent on campus, so we've ensured that everything you need, both for your studies and general day-to-day life, is only a short distance away.

Each of our campuses in Oxford has residential accommodation, playing fields, a library, computer rooms and Students' Union shops. And when you need a bite to eat, there are cafes, snack kiosks and bars, as well as catering facilities serving breakfasts, lunches and evening meals.

Sports facilities

Whether you aspire to compete for your country, enjoy team sports or just want fun, affordable exercise, Brookes has first-class facilities on each of its three main campuses. Our impressive range of clubs means there is something for everyone to try, offering you a great way to socialise and make new friends as well as keeping fit.In addition to taking part in sport yourself, you can get involved in sports volunteering in the community, for example by coaching local children's teams.Their sports clubs have something for everyone, ranging from the traditional football, hockey and rowing to more unusual activities like ultimate frisbee, pilates and ballroom dancing.

Student clubs

Societies are a great way to meet new people and discover new hobbies and interests. The Students' Union has over 70 different societies you can join.Their student societies cater for a massive range of interests, from choral music to drum 'n' bass, snow sports to salsa and religion to real ale. And if there isn't one that caters to your tastes, it's simple to set one up.

Accreditation by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) is widely recognised as the global standard for MBA programmes.
