We have invested over £100 million in our campus on new student accommodation, new facilities for the arts, new academic buildings and a new Olympic quality swimming pool situated in the stunning Sports Training Village, which is home to medal-winning Olympic athletes, and is open to students for elite and recreational sport.

Sports facilities

The £30 million Sports Training Village was officially opened by Princess Anne in 2004

The extensive facilities can cater for over 50 sports!

Unique to the UK is the Push Start track that serves GB Bobsleigh and Skeleton GB. The latter team having medaled at the last 3 Games culminating in Gold for Amy Williams in Vancouver.

Contrary to an urban myth which claims the pool falls short of the Olympic Pool length, due to the designers not taking into account the width of the pool tiles, we can proudly declare that it is 'bang on' 50m long!

Student clubs

The Students' Union is run by students for students; everything is driven by what students want.

Every student is a member of the union.

The union represents all students of the University, locally and nationally.

The union is independent from the University and offers free, confidential support on any issues students have, from troubles with your course to support with personal issues.

There are over 150 student groups to get involved in, including academic reps, support groups (including LGBT, postgraduates, disabled students, student parents), sports, societies and volunteering.
