Aberdeen Business School hosts a vibrant research community and is active in a number of applied research projects. They offer doctoral research opportunities and expertise in a wide range of subject areas.
We are particularly interested in applications in the following areas; entrepreneurship and small business, financial support mechanisms, the planning environment, ownership models and the social acceptance of major energy infrastructure developments.

This will enable international students who graduate from a UK institution from summer 2021 onwards to apply for a two-year post-study work visa.

Student services
RGU have heavily invested in our support networks, both on and off campus, to make the experience of studying at RGU the best it can be. They provide a confidential and non-judgmental service to all their students, applicants and enquirers as they understand it can be daunting arriving in a new city and starting a new course. To make life easier, the Student Help Point is available for all non-academic queries and support, from travel advice to tuition fees, accommodation to application forms.
The RGU:UNION also focus on being the student voice and representing your wants and needs through their Student Partnership Agreement
Housing services
They give priority to new students when allocating accommodation. RGU have a variety of accommodation options available – student accommodation owned by RGU, purpose-built student accommodation operated by private providers and privately rented accommodation. Living in student accommodation is a great way to live independently, yet easily make new friends and is ideal for students living away from home. The ResLife team, offer 24/7 welfare support to those living in RGU accommodation but also offer a program of social opportunities.

Library services
Situated at the heart of the campus, you can’t miss the striking green glass Library tower. There are four floors of books and journals, over 250 computer workstations, printers, photocopiers, scanners and study space use. The Library is open to all staff and students, and subject staff offer drop-in sessions on database searching, referencing and anything else you may require help with.
ICT services
RGU provides a robust IT support service via our IT Helpdesk. They offer support for all your university needs and will support with everything from IT accounts, how to connect to the wireless service, accessing and configuring email, print, copy and scan, and the location of IT labs across the campus.
Medical services
There are a number of GP Practices across the city, with Garthdee Medical Group based on campus. RGU also have an on-site Physiotherapy Clinic, available to all students. They recognise that University, although exciting, can become overwhelming at times. The Student Counselling & Wellbeing Centre operate a confidential service and are available to discuss any difficulties or concerns you may have
Campus life
RGU has invested over £120 million into a state-of-the-art campus, with purpose-built, modern facilities to enhance students’ learning experience. All of their facilities are located within the one campus, including RGU:Union, RGU Sport and the multi-faith centre. There are a number of catering options throughout campus and within a few minutes’ walk from the campus are two large supermarkets and a number of bars.
The campus is well serviced by public transport and is within accessible distance from the vibrant and bustling Aberdeen city centre where you can find a huge variety of shops, bars, hairdressers, beauticians, live music, museums and restaurants.
Sports facilities
RGU has its own onsite sporting facility, RGU SPORT, which houses their 9 court Sports Hall where you can play a range of sports including badminton, basketball, 5-a-side football and hockey. It also has a 6 lane 25m swimming pool, 2 fitness suites, a strength and conditioning room, an indoor climbing wall and 3 group exercise studios.
RGU SPORT runs activities every day, including fitness, body and bind classes, swimming lessons, personal training, climbing courses and campus walks. It is also the home of our 30+ sports clubs, ranging from football to curling, weightlifting to cheerleading. They have a choice of memberships and payment options and all RGU students are entitled to discounted memberships.
Student clubs
When you join RGU, you automatically become a member of RGU:Union, and they are here to make sure your time at RGU is the best it possibly can be. You will have the opportunity to try exciting new activities, from being part of sports club, taking part in charity fundraising, student media or volunteering in the community. Other partnership roles you can get involved in are Student Representatives, International Representatives and Equality Champions.
