Based in the southwest of England, in the idyllic county of Gloucestershire, we are an historic university, educating students since 1847. 

Education

Benefit from expert researchers and lecturers, small class sizes and a personal study experience. We offer over 200 courses across a range of levels and covering a broad range of subjects. We also offer English Language support to help students prepare for and succeed in their course.

We offer placement year and short work experience options through our Degreeplus initiative, giving you valuable work experience for the job market. 95% of our graduates find jobs or further study within six months of graduating . We score 94% in students satisfaction with Careers Advice.

The international development centre team is here to help all prospective and current international students before and during their studies at the university.

Housing services

Our accommodation guarantee offers a guaranteed place in university or partner halls of residence for undergraduate, postgraduate and international students.

  • Halls of residence can be a great start to university life. All halls are situated on or near our campuses. The university has approximately 1,800 places in halls of residence, including spaces in our brand new accommodation.  
  • If the Halls of Residence aren’t for you, our housing support team is here to offer help you find appropriate accommodation throughout your time at university. This might include renting a room in someone’s house or finding a flat/house share or renting your own place. 

Library services

  • Each campus has its own library with a dedicated customer service team and subject specialists.
  • Our extensive resources support first year undergraduates through to PhD students.
  • Late night opening and 24/7 access to the virtual library
  • Open access computers and course related learning
  • The library is not just for students

ICT services

Over 500 open access computers and free Wi-Fi is provided at our three campuses. You can wirelessly print in our libraries too. Extensive photocopying facilities are provided within each library.

Medical services

If an emergency takes place on campus, appropriate staff will contact next of kin (without the student's permission), if it is deemed appropriate.

Campus life

The University of Gloucestershire has three campuses: 

  • Oxstalls - 15 minutes walk from Gloucester city centre and station. Oxstalls is a high-energy campus of forward-thinking and competitive students. Here you’ll train and compete with elite athletes, perform and produce shows, work alongside real businesses.
  • Park - 20 minutes walk from Cheltenham town centre. Originally laid out as a zoological garden, Park campus is our creative hub of artistic and innovative thinkers inspire each other, collaborating on projects.
  • Francis Close Hall - 10 minutes walk from Cheltenham town centre. This is a campus of ground-breaking research and modern theory, complete with its own Gothic library and chapel. 

Sports facilities

  • We offer an array of opportunities for you to get involved with outside your learning. With over 80 activities to choose from, you will discover new opportunities and passions, make life-long friends, and develop new skills for your CV which will help you when you graduate.
  • Sports and Clubs Compete, train or just have fun. Choose from over 45 sports clubs, including traditional British sports like football, rugby and rowing. Or, try something new like kendo, lacrosse or water polo

Student clubs

  • International Society A society dedicated to making international students feel welcome and supported. The club has events and trips throughout the year as well as regular socials to make you feel at home. It’s a great opportunity to meet people from all over the world and explore Gloucestershire together.  
  • Student Reps The Students’ Union ensures your views and interests are heard. You can take part in this system by becoming a subject or course rep or a full-time or part-time officer. 
  • JobShop The Students’ Union JobShop is there to help you to find yourself a part-time job to help support your studies. This is a great way to earn some extra cash and will also help you develop skills for your CV.
