History

Cologne University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1971 as a fusion of renowned predecessor institutions.

Education

TH Köln contributes substantially to resolving social challenges. As a community of faculty and students we see ourselves as a learning organization forging new paths. For instance, TH Köln is one of the pioneers in the field of development and formation of concepts for higher education didactics.

Our subject range includes the fields of Applied Natural Sciences; Architecture and Construction; Information and Communication; Computer Science; Engineering; Culture; Society and Social Sciences as well as Business Studies. More than 90 degree programs are offered as full-time programs or in some cases as career-integrated or part time programs.

Housing services

Boasting a population of slightly more than one million, Cologne is Germany’s fourth-largest metropolis – a highly attractive one on top of that. That is why the International Office strongly recommends that you start looking for a place to live as soon as possible. Doing so will enable you to find an apartment in good time before your arrival so that you can dedicate your first days in Cologne to more important things.

Library services

TH Köln - University of Applied Sciences' library offers a broad range of services and supports the institution's information infrastructure in the fields of academic affairs and research. From the beginning, the library's strong service focus has led to continuous self-evaluation and optimization of its professional range of services.

ICT services

Campus IT is TH Köln - University of Applied Sciences' IT service. It is headed by the CIO and was founded in June 2007 when Department 4 (Data Management) and the Center of Information Technology were merged.

Medical services

With some countries, such as members of the European Union and the European Economic Area, Germany has a social security agreement. As long as you have statutory/public health insurance at home you can get this insurance coverage approved by a statutory/public health insurance company in Germany.

Student clubs

International student associations are established by international students who pursue a common goal. These groups are enrolled on request in the matriculation register of the University of Cologne and are therefore effectively organs of this university, with all rights and duties. As a rule, they are led by international students, but German and students of other origins can also become members or even lead these groups.
