The university opened its doors in 1991 with just 17 students on the mechanical engineering degree programme. Today there are around 3,600 students (as of winter semester 2018/2019), ensuring that the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (“TH Wildau” for short) keeps its familiar atmosphere.
Degree programmes at a university of applied sciences are very practically oriented. The practical orientation of our degree programmes and teaching is one of our distinctive characteristics. Students can carry out practical exercises and experiments with top-quality laboratory and computer technology. An optimal study environment allows creativity and enthusiasm for research to flourish.
TH Wildau is one of the top research universities in Germany. Over 203,000 EUR was raised in third-party funding for each professor in 2015. In 2017, the university was once again able to raise 11 million EUR - two thirds of its budget. TH Wildau stands out in three key areas of research which have been recognised on the research map by the conference of vice chancellors:
The university further specialises in the research fields of production and materials, transport and logistics as well as management and law.
We will be happy to help you on career issues if one of the following applies to you:
An international and intercultural outlook shapes each working day at TH Wildau. Young people from over 60 countries from around the world study at our university. Almost one in five students come from abroad. TH Wildau also actively promotes international exchanges for students and researchers. It is for this reasons that the university cooperates with more than 70 partner universities around the world. We have contacts through our traditional partnerships in Europe as well as links to Asia, Latin America, the Arab world and Africa. Students have a wide range of attractive options for spending a semester or two studying or working abroad, for learning foreign languages and interacting with other cultures.
We offer halls of residence with single or double occupancy.
A variety of flats is available in close proximity to the university. The housing associations of Wildau and the nearby area of Königs Wusterhausen offer special flats at affordable rates especially for students, both for single accommodation and as shared apartments.
The TH Wildau has a state-of-the-art library in an architecturally dazzling industrial production hall. In 2012 it was nominated ‘Library of the Year’ – and not without reason. With its wide range of forward-looking services, the library is well out in front, and is setting new standards by developing novel technical solutions for library organisation.
The IT Centre looks after the information and communications technology infrastructure at the university.
The TH Wildau is a campus university. The teaching and administration buildings, dining room and library are all located on an interconnected site by the Wildau S-Bahn train station, with direct access to Berlin. This makes studying in Wildau exceptionally convenient, because you don’t have any long journeys to negotiate between classes.
The University Sports organized together with the Student Council of the TH Wildau each semester different sports events. There is a lot of fun and action with like-minded people here.
