University of Siegen

History

The foundation stone for the future University of Siegen was laid by the “Meadow Building School”, founded in 1853 and known beyond the country's borders. After the Second World War, the focus of the training shifted towards civil engineering. Since 1962, the school has therefore been called the "State School of Engineering for Construction".

Education

The overall goal of the University of Siegen is to contribute to a decent future and to take responsibility for people and society. This is expressed in the guiding principle of the University of Siegen: Shaping the future humanely.

Research

The University of Siegen is a dynamically developing, internationally recognized, medium-sized university with a clearly visible research and teaching profile. As a creative place of education, research and innovation, it has positioned itself in the science-political sphere to form an opinion and positioned itself as a visible European university. The university's research profile is based on the guiding principle “Shaping the future of human beings”. In the context of the progressive and increasingly intensely mediatized and autonomously technized digitization, sensory and nanotechnological developments penetrate rapidly and often without reflection into all areas of our lives.
