AU Summer University

AU Summer University welcomes Danish and international full-time students, exchange students and free movers. Class sizes range from 20-50 students. In 2019, almost 2800 Danish and international students decided to spend part of their summer taking specialised, intensive courses in Aarhus. 97% of the evaluated students recommended the programme to their friends.

History

In 2011, Aarhus University launched the extended summer programme "AU Summer University". The programme consists of a portfolio of courses taught in English at Bachelor's or Master's level within the fields of Arts, Business and Economics, Business Communication, Political Science and Law, Health, Science and Technology.

Education

In 2020, we are offering 101 English taught courses by AU lecturers and invited international guest lecturers from all over the world. All teaching at AU Summer University is based on current research and has a strong international perspective. The close link between research and education ensures the quality and depth of the courses.

The AU Summer University programmes are, in general, elective courses and carry 5 or 10 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), which equals a workload of 125-150 hours for 5 ECTS courses and 250-300 hours for 10 ECTS courses.

Student services

At the Summer University Help Desk we will do our best to support you. We know almost everything there is to know about bus departures, sights to see, when to be where or where to find out! The Help Desk will be open 08:30 - 14:00 in building 1453. The buildings are actually located close to teaching facilities on campus and a group of AU student assistants will help you find locations, guide you to the photocopier and the canteen, and in general answer any questions you may have during the summer. From 14:00 - 15:30 the Help Desk is available at the International Centre.

The AU Summer University administration is located at the International Centre. We are located in the south end of the University park.

Housing services

Two types of accommodation in Aarhus:

  • Student dormitories. The most common is single corridor rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom where you will live with Danish students and other international summer university students. We also allocate shared two-room apartments, where you will be sharing kitchen and bathroom with another summer university student.
  • Shared facility houses. 6-13 students live together in one house. Each student has his/her own bedroom and shares the kitchen and bathroom with other summer university students.

Library services

Aarhus University offers international students and lecturers a number of academic services and facilities, which are described below. If you have any queries, librarians will be available whenever possible in both the main and individual faculty libraries.

ICT services

  • We strongly recommend that you bring your own laptop during your stay at AU Summer University. All over AU the Internet is wireless, so you will be able to work online in almost any place.
  • Wireless internet is available in all buildings at Aarhus University.
