History

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire opened its doors in the fall of 1916 as the Eau Claire State Normal School. A single building, now known as Schofield Hall, was constructed on a 12-acre site donated by the city of Eau Claire. With a student body of 159 and a faculty of 20, the school offered one- and two-year elementary and three-year secondary teachers' courses, and a principal's course.

  • The Advising, Retention and Career Center exists on campus to provide centralized support for students.   • Career Services can help students explore careers, find internships and jobs, launch careers, and pursue their professional goals. We work closely with employers to develop internship and full-time opportunities for UW-Eau Claire students and graduates.

Student services

The Student Office of Sustainability (SOS) is a Commission of Student Senate whose purpose is to allocate the Green Fund using a collaborative model in order to make UW-Eau Claire a more sustainable campus. The SOS funds projects, programs, and events addressing the various sustainability areas of transportation, energy, waste, climate change, water, food systems, campus ecology, education, and outreach.

ICT services

  • The LTS Help Desk is the front line of support regarding learning and technology services. Located in Vicki Lord Larson Hall, they coordinate the referral of faculty, student and staff questions to the appropriate resources.
  • Whether you are a UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff, or student, Learning and Technology Services has multiple tools in place to help you work and learn remotely.

Did you know there are more than 220 student organizations at UW-Eau Claire? Some of these are closely tied to a major, like the Philosophy Club or Aspiring Educators. Scholastic organizations like these will expand upon your classwork and connect you with individuals who share common goals.
