The history of the University of Colorado dates back to the earliest days of Colorado and precedes the creation of the state. At its first session in 1861, the Colorado territorial legislature passed an act providing for the creation of a university in Boulder.
UCCS offers 36 Bachelor’s degrees, 19 Master’s degrees and five Doctoral programs. We offer degrees that are in demand by today’s employers, including programs in Business, Nursing, Health Sciences, Education, Public Affairs, Liberal Arts and Engineering.
Research, scholarship, and creative works are crucial activities for our faculty. Faculty members engage students and the community in their research and creative work activities providing unique opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Undergraduate students can participate in these types of activities in a variety of ways: through the Undergraduate Research Academy; through paid positions in their colleges or departments or with individual faculty; through independent study opportunities for credit; or by volunteering.
Students have the opportunity to present their scholarly activities at the Colorado Springs Undergraduate Research Forum (CSURF) and the Mountain Lion Research Day.

Summit Village : The Summit Village is home to freshmen and other students who enjoy the traditional residence hall experience.
Village at Alpine Valley Residence Hall:These new residence halls feature a large community lounge area on every floor to allow for the ability to better connect with other students on your floor, as well as a great place to study and enjoy the gorgeous views of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods.
Alpine Village Apartments:This apartment community is nestled at the foot of the scenic Austin Bluffs hillside with easy access to hiking and the new campus Recreation Center.
Kraemer Family Library:
The Kraemer Family Library fosters the intellectual growth of UCCS students, faculty, staff, and our community by developing innovative services, technologies, collections, and spaces that facilitate their emerging information needs.
