History
City's tradition of providing high quality education relevant to business and the professions dates back 160 years. For many of our graduates, time spent at City laid the groundwork for leadership, innovation and excellence that have changed the world we live in.
Education
Day in, day out, year in and year out, City transforms the lives of around 20,000 students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, creates new knowledge, supports business and the professions, and contributes to the global good of society. Our outlook is global: around half our students come from outside the UK and our research has worldwide impact, while our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility runs through everything we do.
Research
City’s culture is about reaching outwards, encouraging academics to think about real life impact of their work. They do this through active engagement with policy makers and those who benefit directly from research to find ways in which knowledge can be modified, embedded in services and otherwise made useful.
City’s research is shaping policy and practice in areas as diverse as mental health and wellbeing, finance and banking, politics, public policy and regulation, engineering and the environment.
