History

Founded in 1989, we now become a modern comprehensive university. We tailor our professional programmes to adapt to market trends and meet industry needs, thus providing our students with quality professional education and clear career paths.

Education

Our signature programmes include areas in high demand, such as nursing, physiotherapy, medical laboratory technology, building services engineering, creative arts, early childhood education, business management and corporate governance.

Research

Our research endeavours emphasise positive impacts on the community. This has resulted in significant research developments in a number of strategic areas uniquely relevant and beneficial to the development of Hong Kong and the region.

Housing services

The University co-ordinates with some private accommodation operators for the rental of some Off-campus Accommodations (OCA) to cater for non-local students who have a genuine need to live in Hong Kong on a user-pay principle. As the residence is owned by accommodation operators outside HKMU, the availability, accommodation provisions, service level and pricing are subject to negotiation and are likely to vary on a yearly basis.  The role of Student Affairs Office (SAO) is a facilitator to enable a smooth conclusion of the year-long tenancy commitment between the residents and the accommodation operators. Thus, OCA is very different from traditional student halls of residence owned by other universities.

Sports facilities

To access the gymnasium, users should complete Fitness Introductory Course organized by HKMU or have registered as a user of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) fitness room and apply for a Fitness Card from Student Affairs Office in advance.Users are encouraged to familiarize with the instructions before using sports facilities or fitness equipment so as to prevent sports injuries.

QS World University Rankings is one of the top international rankings measuring the popularity and performance of universities all over the world. They measure university reputation based on the impressions of higher education experts, companies who hire graduates, and teaching quality. QS also considers the ratio of international teachers and students present at universities, as well as the times research papers were mentioned by researchers. After calculating and comparing these criteria, QS ranks the universities accordingly.

Studying in an International city

HKMU offers a dynamic academic environment with a strong emphasis on global perspectives. The courses are well-structured, and the faculty are experts with a wealth of industry experience. The admissions process is competitive but transparent, and the university offers substantial financial aid options. Campus life is vibrant, with a rich array of student organizations and activities that reflect Hong Kongs cultural diversity. However, living expenses in Hong Kong can be high, which may be a concern for some students. Safety is generally well-handled, with campus security and emergency services readily available.
