The University received its charter from the State of Delaware in 1833 and was designated one of the nation’s historic Land Grant colleges in 1867. Today, UD is a Land Grant, Sea Grant and Space Grant institution.

Beginning in May, 2010, the University of Delaware Campus & Public Safety Department embarked on Phase I of an initiative to utilize an I.P. based video surveillance system to enhance public safety. The results have spoken for themselves.
All students interested in joining a club sports team should plan on attending Club Sports Night during the first week of fall semester. Participants that are unable to attend the event should contact the club officer of the sport they are interested in for more information on how to get involved with the team.
