About

History

The University received its charter from the State of Delaware in 1833 and was designated one of the nation’s historic Land Grant colleges in 1867. Today, UD is a Land Grant, Sea Grant and Space Grant institution.

Education

A state-assisted, privately governed institution, UD offers a broad range of degree programs: 3 associate programs, 147 bachelor’s programs, 119 master's programs, 54 doctoral programs, and 15 dual graduate programs through our seven colleges and in collaboration with more than 70 research centers. Our student body encompasses more than 17,000 undergraduates, more than 3,600 graduate students and nearly 800 students in professional and continuing studies from across the country and around the globe.

Library services

The Library inspires the intellectual, scholarly and creative achievement of University and global communities with expert staff, excellent service, dynamic learning spaces and access to diverse collections and information resources.

Information Technologies (IT) provides technology services for the University community.

Student Life

Campus life

Beginning in May, 2010, the University of Delaware Campus & Public Safety Department embarked on Phase I of an initiative to utilize an I.P. based video surveillance system to enhance public safety. The results have spoken for themselves.

Sports facilities

All students interested in joining a club sports team should plan on attending Club Sports Night during the first week of fall semester. Participants that are unable to attend the event should contact the club officer of the sport they are interested in for more information on how to get involved with the team.
