Student services

If you're not sure who can help you or where to go, our Student Welfare Officers are on hand to refer you to services at UC or around Canberra, or they can just be someone to talk to.

They can also provide support with a variety of issues, from financial difficulties, study challenges, finding accommodation, misconduct or grievance resolution, and anything else you may be worried about.

Housing services

Your accommodation sets the tone for your uni life.  Choosing on-campus housing where you will live with lots of others, or finding your own place in Canberra depends on your preference and budget.

At certain times of the year it can be extremely difficult to secure accommodation in Canberra, so it is important you start your search early.

Library services

  • The University of Canberra Library (UC Library) aims to provide a range of high quality scholarly information resources and services to the University community.
  • The Library recognises the importance of our clients, both staff and students.

Campus life

  • The University of Canberra is located in the suburb of Bruce in the Australian Capital Territory.  Surrounded by Lake Ginnindera, the new suburb of Lawson, Radford college and residential housing, regular public buses can drop you right on campus.
  • Open space, natural calm, tall trees and wildlife. Close to the city. Convenient to shopping. Great food, cool cafes, events and markets; a buzzing social hub with something for everyone.

Sports facilities

  • The sporting facilities are being developed on campus to help the University become one of Australia's leading tertiary sports institutions in scholarships and research.
  • Stage one of the project, the Sporting Commons, was completed in 2014 and attracted the attention of local Super Rugby franchise the ACT Brumbies, which now calls UC home. Special Olympics ACT, the ACT Sports Hall of Fame, UC Fit! and the University of Canberra Research Institute for Sport and Exercise (UCRISE) are also based at the Sporting Commons.

Student clubs

  • UC Life! offer a variety of services and campus events to the UC and wider community. At the Bruce campus they operate a number of food outlets, the campus general store, post office, conference management services and fitness facilities.
  • UC Life! also manages over 50 faculty, social, cultural and sporting clubs who run events on and off campus throughout the year for students.
  • You can find information on UC clubs and societies, should you wish to establish a group at your local campus.
