The establishment of Aberystwyth University was the work of a small group of patriots, led by Hugh Owen, a London Welshman, who sought from the 1850s onwards to raise enough money by public and private subscription to establish a college of university status in Wales. In 1872, the University was opened in a half-finished hotel building on the sea front in Aberystwyth.
Aber provides a transformative education, and encourages students to become rounded individuals through making the most of their time with us. However, the Aber experience is much more than just studying. Together, our students and staff provide a real community in which students can savour the myriad of opportunities in sport and society.
Research is an integral part of Aberystwyth University's mission and work. It is supported by a Research Strategy, the purpose of which is to ensure that the University can continue to produce a significant volume of high quality work and respond to the rapidly changing environment in the UK in relation to research and its funding.
Choosing a career path is as simple as thinking about these things, learning a bit more about the range of options that are out there for you and then pulling all these elements together, without limiting yourself.
That’s where we come in as a Careers Service, we will help you to see what you enjoy, recognise the huge range of skills you have to offer, and show you how to find out more about the great range of choices that are out there for you.
