New York College-Athens, Greece/ Uni of Greenwich
Studying Biomedical Sciences at New York College in collaboration with University of Greenwich has been a valuable and rewarding experience overall. One of the strongest aspects of the programme is definitely the quality of the professors. Most lecturers are highly knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely passionate about their subjects. They encourage students to think critically and apply scientific knowledge beyond simple memorisation, which is especially important in a demanding field like Biomedical Sciences. Many professors are approachable and willing to help students outside class hours, creating a positive academic environment. The curriculum itself is interesting and covers a wide range of topics, from human biology and genetics to laboratory techniques and research skills. The collaboration with the University of Greenwich also adds credibility to the degree and gives students confidence that they are receiving an internationally recognised education. I particularly appreciated the balance between theoretical learning and practical laboratory work, which helped develop both scientific understanding and hands-on experience. However, the college can sometimes feel a bit unorganised. Communication regarding schedules, assignments, or administrative procedures is occasionally unclear or delayed, which can create unnecessary stress for students. There are moments where coordination between departments could definitely be improved. While these organisational issues are frustrating at times, they do not completely overshadow the positive academic experience. Overall, my experience at New York College has been mostly positive. The supportive professors, engaging Biomedical Sciences programme, and international collaboration with the University of Greenwich make it a worthwhile choice for students interested in science and healthcare careers. Although there is room for improvement in organisation and administration, the quality of education and dedication of the teaching staff stand out as the college’s greatest strengths.
Biomedical sciences: Practical or Theoretical ?
The programme I’m currently studying has a variety of theoretical classes to attend; from cancer to genetics to simple biochemistry it covers a broad range of knowledge needed to study in the field of science, However there is no real practical class throughout the whole degree besides some basic chemistry labs. The real practical experience is gained from the internship that is ought to be completed in order to get the degree, which I have completed and I can confidently that although there was a lack of practical skills before, the internship was easy to follow up and very sufficient for me to get the practical knowledge I need.
My experience
Everything at the University is actually okay apart from financial constraints
