Originally funded with a loan from the Colorado State University Board of Governors, CSU Global quickly obtained accreditation and was legally sanctioned as an independent university in Spring, 2009, when Colorado’s Governor Ritter signed Senate Bill 09-086, declaring CSU–Global Campus an online university within the Colorado State University System.
CSU Global has also innovated career-specific degree and certificate programs designed to help working adults stay on-point with fast-changing industry trends. By partnering with business and thought leaders, CSU Global continually strives to stay ahead of business trends and practices in multiple fields.

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The HLC accredits and thereby grants membership to educational institutions in the North Central region: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming. The HLC is recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
