Gannon University

History

Gannon College of Arts and Sciences, founded as Cathedral College under the 1925 charter of Villa Maria College, was established by then-Archbishop John Mark Gannon, who in 1941 purchased one of the most elegant buildings in downtown Erie the Strong Mansion as the current campus’ central site. In 1979, the college attained University status.

Education

Think about what you love to study, or where you imagine yourself working, or what you want to accomplish in the future. It’s possible at Gannon. Over 100 academic programs, including online and traditional Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree options mean countless possibilities. Each of our majors includes opportunities to work and learn in professional settings.

Research

Students at Gannon University work collaboratively with faculty on a variety of research projects.  Projects are related to the wide ranging expertise of the faculty within the biology department.  Students and faculty take advantage of three shared laboratory spaces in the Zurn Science center and our proximity to Lake Erie for research.

Career

The Career Exploration and Development team helps students connect their coursework with career possibilities through advising, outreach, professional events, internships, and other experiences. Through partnerships with university colleagues, alumni, and employers, the department is committed to helping develop students into career-ready professionals.

Student services

The Office of Global Support and Student Engagement (OGSSE) strives to foster a welcoming environment for all students and their families of diverse cultural identities.  The OGSSE staff serves students on F and J visas through orientation, advocacy, resource referrals, cultural programming, and immigration advising.  We invite members of the Gannon and local communities to participate in opportunities for intercultural dialogue, exchange and cultural exploration sponsored by our office and the division of Global Enrollment and Engagement.
