History
The tragic events of May 4, 1970, had a profound impact on Kent State University, the nation and the world. The university's national leadership role in promoting nonviolence and other democratic values extends to 1971.The center has since been renamed the School of Peace and Conflict Studies.

Research
Our five research strategic institutes/initiatives in Brain Health, Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystals, Environmental Science and Design, Healthy Communities, and Global Understanding build upon the existing strengths among individual researchers and disciplines and unite scholars from diverse backgrounds to pursue current and pressing societal challenges from unique perspectives.

Housing services
Located on 180 acres in New Philadelphia, Kent State Tuscarawas boasts a vibrant and friendly atmosphere with over 2100 students served through credit programming and another 4500 individuals served through non-credit courses offered by the Office of Business and Community Services.
Library services
- Includes instructional, research, historic, and creative materials produced by the University System of Ohio and Ohio's private colleges.
- Directory of music recordings, the C-SPAN video library and television recordings, art images, geological and historic maps and more.
- Request materials from a network of public library systems throughout the state.
Medical services
- Extend dependent coverage up to age 26 for those that do not have another source of employer sponsored health insurance;
- Coverage is required regardless of the adult child’s marital status;
- Coverage is required regardless of the adult child’s residency status or full-time student status.

Sports facilities
The Department of Recreational Services at Kent State University offers varying levels of competitive sports for a range of people. Students, faculty/staff and their spouses are eligible for Intramural Sports. Intramural registration is available for teams and free agents. Games are typically once a week, with a championship game to determine each section's winners (and owners of the coveted Intramural Champion T-Shirt!). Intramural sport offerings change each semester.
