History

Building upon the traditions of St. Francis College and Westbrook College, the University of New England has grown and evolved for more than a century.

Education

Students at our two beautiful seaside Maine campuses, and in our array of online degree and certificate programs, are supported by our exceptional commitment to experiential, on-site learning; the uncommon research opportunities we offer (especially to undergrads); our dedication to fostering an inclusive, welcoming community; and our belief in the importance of cross-cultural fluency. UNE students study abroad at five times the national average, participating in programs that include partnerships in Spain, France, and Iceland — and our one-of-a-kind jewel of a campus in Tangier, Morocco.

Research

As a student at the University of New England, you'll enjoy a wide range of opportunities to participate in research. Working alone or in a group of peers, you'll engage with faculty at the forefront of their disciplines in the pursuit of new knowledge.

Student services

The Academic Advising Center — utilizing a personalized holistic advising approach — assists as you explore, develop, and implement educational and career goals. With ongoing partnerships with faculty and professional staff throughout the university, we support the success of all students, with increased support for those exploring major and career options and those who are academically at-risk.

Housing services

The University of New England has three distinct campuses that combine to offer students a range of different learning experiences. Our two Maine campuses house our internationally renowned undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, while our campus in Tangier, Morocco is home to an innovative semester abroad program.

Library services

The University of New England Library Services are central to the intellectual life of the University community.

ICT services

The Information Technology Services department oversees academic and administrative computing on the UNE campuses. We maintain high-speed wired and wireless internet access across both campuses and printing facilities in our computer labs.

For your convenience and ease of access, we offer health centers on both our Biddeford and Portland campuses.
