In 1887 the educational community of Dundee started courses "in those branches of learning necessary or useful for working mechanics and other craftsmen" at a building on the University College campus in Smalls Wynd. The success of these courses led to the establishment of the Dundee Technical Institute just one year later in 1888. The Institute is now Abertay University.

There are lots of student rooms for you to choose from in Parker House. This means you'll get an Abertay-only discounted rent, and live in a modern, purpose-built student residence.
Parker House is super-close to Abertay - so close you can walk or cycle to classes in less than ten minutes, even if you dawdle. There are different room types at a range of prices, and all are en-suite.

Located next to our teaching buildings in the city centre campus, the Bernard King Library offers a variety of flexible, modern spaces to accommodate all learning styles. A £4 million refurbishment in 2017 has provided four floors of open plan study space.
As well as access to thousands of printed books, the library provides a significant bank of electronic resources.
High quality wifi is available throughout the library. There’s also a good mix of open access PCs, together with areas to work if you want to bring your own device or borrow a laptop from one of our self-service lockers.
Healthcare in Scotland is provided by NHS Scotland. If you have relocated from outside the EU, you (and your accompanying family members) will have paid NHS surcharges as part of your application fee. Most healthcare in Scotland has no extra charge. The exceptions are dental care and eye care.
Abertay has a compact city centre campus right in the heart of Dundee. Their buildings blend the modern with the historic, with the Edwardian Old College giving a taste of the past. The Kydd Building has specialist labs such as our Emergent Technology Centre, the National Centre for Excellence in Computer Games and Scotland's only industry-standard food science consumer research lab.
Across the road from the Kydd building is Annie's Cafe, the heart of the campus and a great place to meet, chat or work using free wifi. Above that is the cyberQuarter a £18m cybersecurity research and development centre that works with businesses of all kinds raising awareness of cybersecurity and developing cybersecurity solutions
The university gym gives you everything you need to meet your fitness goals.
They have high quality exercise equipment, ranging from Olympic platforms and bars (including a safety squat bar and shrug bar) to Eleiko plates and a squat rack. They have Matrix based Cardio kit, pin select machines and a functional trainer - everything for new and experienced gym users.
Friendly staff are on hand to take you through gym inductions and discuss your training needs. There are full shower and changing facilities which can be used between lectures and tutorials.
Abertay Students’ Association (the Association) is a Scottish charity as we are a student organisation. They meet the requirements of the charity test, and are entered on the Scottish Charity Register.

My experience at the university has been good and rewarding. I really appreciated the opportunity to learn new things, develop my knowledge and skills, and interact with lecturers and other students. The academic programmes provided useful knowledge that I can apply in my future career. I also appreciated the support and learning resources available to students. Overall, my university experience has been valuable and has helped me grow both academically and personally.
