Since its founding in 1863, the university has evolved into a modern institution of higher education, committed to quality programs, and responsive to a rapidly changing world and the aspirations of an increasingly diverse society.


  • Degrees: More than 250 undergraduate majors and options are available.
  • Graduate study: The Graduate School offers 65 master's degrees, 45 doctoral degrees and 22 graduate certificates in multiple disciplines across campus.


  • Academic discovery and creative inquiry are crucial to student success, and not only at the graduate level. Therefore, we offer many opportunities for undergraduate research, including an undergraduate research journal, Crossing Borders: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Undergraduate Scholarship, and research-specific undergraduate program. The university has instituted the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry, directed by Anita Cortez.
  • Graduate research has many benefits, including the possibility of funding your education. Students involved in research projects also may be eligible for awards, including the University Distinguished Professors Graduate Student Award.

Campus life

The main campus is located in Manhattan, Kan. The Little Apple is a classic college town with more than 52,000 residents. The university also has a campus in Olathe and the Polytechnic campus in Salina.

Sports facilities

Compete with teams from other universities on non-varsity club teams. K-State is home to nearly 30 club teams, including everything from dodgeball to water polo.

Play sports you enjoy on campus without the pressure of varsity sports. K-State's intramural program hosts more than 60 individual, dual and team sports. Competition is divided into men's, women's, co-rec and living group divisions.
