History

Founded in 1886, the university each year welcomes more than 14,000 students from all 50 states and 90 countries. As a land-grant university, we are dedicated to serving the state of Wyoming and producing graduates who go on to be global leaders.

Education

Here you can study everything from agronomy to zoology, criminal justice to theatre and dance. UW offers 80 areas of study for our undergraduate students where you'll meet faculty members who have won a Nobel Peace Prize and also teach your freshmen economics course. We also have some of the nation's most advanced facilities, including our brand new Engineering, Education and Research Building that offers research opportunities and one of the most well-equipped makerspace in the country. These resources not only allow our students hands-on learning, most are open to all students - no matter what program or degree level they're at.

Research

The Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development is a service organization to the faculty, staff and students of the University of Wyoming. It is our goal to provide swift, accurate and expert service to enhance the research missions of individuals and various units within the University. To that end we have labored to place the assets within the office onto the desktops of researchers through this web site.

Career

The University of Wyoming Alumni Association (UWAA) has a wealth of resources and career tools in for both UW Students and Alumni in preparing them for employment, building or furthering their network, and ultimately finding a job! We also offer a wide range of career webinars for professional development!

Student services

  • The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs oversees and provides leadership for all academic programs and functions at the University of Wyoming.  Here is a list of the colleges, schools, and programs that report to the Office of Academic Affairs.
  • The Office of Academic Affairs has the lead responsibility for academic planning and academic budget administration, academic personnel decisions and career development, university-wide curricular requirements and degree program development, assessment of student learning, and academic accreditation.

Housing services

Testing accommodations are an interactive process between eligible students, DSS and faculty.  Please notify DSS as soon as possible if you have concerns related to testing accommodations.

Overview of Process:

  • Must request accommodations for each course, each semester.
  • Provide syllabi to coordinators.

Library services

UW Librarians have developed learning outcomes for library instruction sessions. We recommend limiting the goals for a library instruction session to 1-3 objectives. Your liaison librarian will work with you to determine at what point during a research assignment unit it makes most sense for library instruction and help identify the appropriate learning objectives.

ICT services

The IT Help Desk is the first place to contact for computer related help, password issues, or other computing needs. Serving students, faculty, and staff the Help Desk is the single point of contact that provides timely and professional phone, email, online chat, and remote support on hardware, software, connectivity, and UW computer access.

Medical services

  •  The Student Health Service is staffed by five physicians, a physician assistant, two nurse practitioners and a psychiatric nurse practitioner; all are board certified in their specialty fields.
  • All medical staff provide high-quality, comprehensive primary health care and education to UW students. Additional services include a full-service pharmacy and laboratory.
