History
The idea to open a university in Kufstein resulted from the needs of the regional economy. 97 students enrolled into the first two available courses, Facility Management and International Business & Management, in October 1997.
1,136 students were already enrolled at the university by November 2007 and in 2025 the number of students grew to 2,400.
Education
The 28 economic and technical degree programs of the University of Applied Sciences FH Kufstein Tirol are international, practical and always up-to-date. All students gain valuable experience abroad – during a full semester at one of the 250 partner universities worldwide as a full-time bachelor student, or during an intensive week abroad as a part-time or full-time master student. The close collaboration with regional and global companies ensures a strong practical focus. 350 lecturers support the 2,400 students personally and individually.
Research
The FH Kufstein Tirol is an important regional educational and research institution that sees digital and sustainable change as central to social, cultural, economic and technological development. Our research focuses on the areas of technology, business and society.
Particularly in the areas of sustainability, digitalization, AI and international regional development, the effects of technological innovations on the economy and society are examined, whereby interdisciplinary approaches are required to overcome the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
Career
The FH Kufstein Tirol has developed a unique combination of training contents that are incorporated into all courses and promote the careers of students and graduates. The target of this training is to support responsible personalities with ethical principles, to recognize their own potential and to develop further.

The International Student Residence of the FH Kufstein Tirol is located near the river “Inn” and provides a high quality of living as it is a very calm place to live. In only 10 walking minutes you can reach the town center as well as the campus of the university.

Campus life
The FH Kufstein Tirol resides in a building that contains modern lecture rooms and workspaces, a library and a cafeteria. The campus is located on the green, generous park area that lies adjacent to the city center. Many sport and leisure-time possibilities, as well as the nearby cultural centers and regional capital cities, generate an exciting, international flair.

Life-changing course
This Data Science and Artificial Intelligence course completely transformed the way I approach problems. From mastering Python, pandas, and scikit-learn to diving deep into neural networks, transformers, and real-world ML pipelines, every module was packed with clear explanations, hands-on projects, and up-to-date techniques.The instructors break down complex topics (GANs, reinforcement learning, LLM fine-tuning, MLOps) in a way that feels intuitive, even for someone coming from a non-CS background like me. The projects were challenging but incredibly rewarding—I am learning about building and deploying my own computer vision model and a production-ready recommendation system. Truly the best investment I’ve ever made in my career. If you’re serious about breaking into data science or AI, this is the course that will get you there. 10/10!

Opinions of a Master's student
The classes are fairly easy to deal with but some deadlines for the projects are really tight. The society in and around the campus is good. A lot of events hosted by school, student organizations and practical projects.
