History

Both DU and Denver rose out of the Colorado frontier and have developed in tandem ever since. We were founded in 1864 as the Colorado Seminary, only six years after the founding of Denver City in what was then the Colorado Territory.

Education

Our students create technologies, solve social challenges and advance how we think about international relations, to name a few of the projects our undergraduate and graduate students have tackled.

Research

With opportunities to participate in research and internships as well as robust service learning and study abroad traditions, a DU education takes you beyond the lecture hall walls.

Career

Career & Professional Development is fully equipped to serve you online in the coming quarter! Appointments, drop-in hours, trainings and employer events will all continue virtually.

Whether you are searching for a job in Denver or beyond, our team is ready to help with your planning and to share tips for job searching in difficult economic conditions.

Student services

The Student Assistance Fund (SAF) provides limited financial assistance to currently enrolled University of Denver students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of temporary hardship related to an unexpected situation. (Request examples: Supplies for self-quarantine, funds for traveling home, concerns about food insecurities.)

Housing services

The university has created a FAQ page regarding housing for the 2020-2021 academic year and what that will look like.

Updates for Housing-specific policies and procedures can be found on our website. Additionally, students who are experiencing financial hardships or are in need of additional resources during this time can visit the Student Outreach & Support website.

Library services

In compliance with the local and university ordinances, DU Libraries, including both the Anderson Academic Commons and the Bonfils-Stanton Music Library, will be closed until further notice, but most library services are available online. Contact the Research Center if you have questions.

ICT services

The IT Help Center provides laptop support for the following:

  • On-campus wired and wireless networks
  • Public printers
  • Password resets
  • Anti-virus software (Crowdstrike)
  • External VPN client (Off-Campus Network Access)
  • Windows 8.1, 10
  • Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 8 support has been discontinued. For assistance in upgrading, please contact the IT Help Center.

Campus life

Walk around campus in the fall and you'll find students relaxing on the greens, enjoying the changing colors of our many trees. Winter brings the First Snow Celebration, where our community gathers for hot chocolate and snowball fights as students and faculty enjoy the pristine beauty of a snow-covered campus. Once the snow melts, with nature in full bloom, you'll find our lawns and green spaces populated by students soaking up the Colorado sun

Sports facilities

We offer more than 30 different club sports, from baseball to ultimate frisbee to kayaking. Our student-run teams compete locally, regionally and nationally in intercollegiate competition.

Accreditation

The University of Denver is accredited as a doctoral degree-granting institution by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is authorized to offer post-secondary education in the state of Colorado by the Colorado Department of Higher Education.

Vibrant University Of Denver

I think the university of Denver is an amazing school. The location is amazing and you get best of both worlds, you're right near a major city and also near stunning mountains. Everyone here is very welcoming and friendly and it is easy to make friends here. Everyone here is here to help you if you need it and the professors are amazing. The class options are crazy good and the school has a really strong hospitality program and international studies program. I do not regret my decision at all and I love it here so much.
