UCW Vancouver was founded in 2004 by Dr. David Strong, an accomplished academic and distinguished scientist who served as President of the University of Victoria for more than a decade. The vision was to create an independent, accessible university with a practical focus and an emphasis on teaching excellence.
UCW Vancouver is a business-oriented, teaching-intensive university.

UCW is a teaching intensive university rather than researched based. However, faculty still contribute to academic journals and other academia.

UCW Vancouver’s Library Portal connects users to over 60,000 full text scholarly journals, periodicals and trade publications, close to 25,000 business case studies, over 180,000 e-books including company profiles, economic country reports and SWOT analyses.
UCW Vancouver offers free wifi to students, as well as the free use of two computer labs. The UCW students can sign out ipads from the library for school or personal use.
UCW Vancouver has a first aid station on campus, but medical facilities are located off campus
