History
With a history that spans more than two decades in the education sector, Multimedia University has undergone countless changes, yet has always maintained its vision and mission to achieve the highest standards of performance in teaching and in the services we offer students, staff and the community.
Education
A study by Gartner and MSC Malaysia found that MMU is among the top five universities preferred by major ICT players for graduate employment — a testament to the quality of our academicians, curriculum, student development programmes and our solid reputation with the industries.
Research
The Research and Innovation (R&I) Division, led by Vice President (R&I), was established in early 2008 to spearhead and manage research activities in Multimedia University (MMU). Prior to the establishment of the R&I Division, the responsibility to plan, coordinate, implement and monitor all R&I activities as well as postgraduate programmes in MMU was placed under Centre for Research and Postgraduate Programmes (CRPP). In addition to the above-mentioned core functions, the new R&I Division also plays an important role to synergise the development of Research-Innovation-Commercialisation (R-I-C) nexus in all research activities.
Career
More than 2000 visitors attended Multimedia University (MMU) Career Fair 2020 on 7 and 8 January at Dewan Tun Canselor, Cyberjaya. The two-day programme is an annual effort by the students with the partnership of Graduan and GTI Media from gradMalaysia. With its slogan “Break Barriers, Land Careers”, this event provides an avenue for career opportunities and internships as well as to meet some of Malaysia’s best employers under one roof.
Student services
Personal Counseling is available on a limited basis. Counselor provides students with counseling to help them in self exploration as it relates to their college experience and their educational goals.

Library services
We proudly serve MMU communities free services in term of educating library users whether academician, student, staff, or member of the public, on how to use the library and its services. The main purpose is to build user’s skills in accessing a variety of library resources available in the library and to guide users on how to use the resources and services provided by the library.
Campus life
With its diverse mix of ethnicities and tropical weather all year long, Malaysia is a place unlike any other. Located in Southeast Asia, the country is a melting pot of culture, food and celebrations, besides having blessed with world-famous tourist attractions all over the country.
Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is a vibrant and bustling metropolis that never sleeps. With Petronas Twin Towers as the major landmark decorating its skyline, the city also boasts a well-connected public transportation, besides being one of the greatest shopping destinations in the region.

All our programmes are recognised by accrediting bodies such as the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) and Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC).

Practical Learning and Personal Growth
My time at the university has been tough and also really good. As a Journalism student I have learned a lot about communication making media doing research and telling stories. The classes I took helped me think critically and understand how important media is to our society. One thing I really liked was getting to work on projects like news stories and research papers that let me use what I learned in class. The teachers were usually very helpful and willing to guide us as we learned and grew professionally. Being around students from backgrounds also made learning more interesting. There are some things that could be made better. If we had access to new media equipment, better digital tools and partnerships with companies in the industry it would really help us get ready for the big changes happening in media. It would also be great to have chances, to intern, which would help us connect what we learn in class to the real world.
